This was the first time I completed a work exploding the layers of paint to capture more story and emotion, and filmed the creative process with that in mind, and added an extending soundtrack made of samples. This formed my first multimedia counterpart for the painted work. It was painted as a collage of ideas that came to me over a few hours, then the final outpouring on the portrait in a few sessions over a day or two, then the soundtrack of samples superimposed on the video. It’s an outpouring of pain. It was painted soon after my father’s death. It might be my pain. It might be his. I don’t know.
