I discovered Art in my retirement. Prior to that, I had careers as a Naval Officer (patrol boat, captain), association executive (CEO, Pharmacy Guild of Australia), (Divisional Director, Institute of Architects) and 20 years, running my successful public affairs consultancy. Following retirement, in my 70s, I graduated with Masters Degrees in Communication and Entrepreneurship. I began painting during study breaks. My paintings hang at various locations around Canberra, and I have also sold around 30 works over the last three years. There are over 60 paintings framed at my home which functions as my studio at a retirement village in Fisher ACT. Since I retired 15 years ago, I have well over 100 paintings to my credit. My practice has developed from traditional landscapes and seascapes to larger or challenging subjects, including portraits political commentary and abstract works.
