Phillip Powers

Before becoming a photographer, Phillip Powers studied fine arts at a prestigious university. He was drawn to the expressive quality of painting, but also had a strong interest in the technical aspects of photography. Combining these two passions, Powers developed his signature style of photography, which he calls `Lightstrokes.` Powers` work is characterized by its painterly quality, with images that appear to be infused with light and color in a way that is almost surreal. He achieves this effect through a combination of long exposures, multiple exposures, and various other techniques that allow him to manipulate light in unconventional ways.
