This painting is part of a plein air series created during a road trip around Canterbury, New Zealand.

Aoraki Mt Cook is often covered in mist, and the day was spent waiting and hoping the mist would clear. It eventually cleared around 6 pm, and exposed the peak in all its glory. Such a majestic sight and a magical experience to be able to paint it on location.
