Leon Holmes is an international award-winning artist who has made himself a global name as being one of the most enthusiastic and successful professionals of his trade – Plein Air Oil Painting (outdoor painting). The artist uses only the finest art materials available today to produce artwork of an outstanding quality that is standing up to demand of his serious collectors base and his competition around the world.
Leon’s artworks are true reflections of various scenes, including landscapes, seascapes and portraits, but can also contain an abstract value. The artist creates fresh and dynamic smaller works outdoors on location when studying the correct light and colour, before using these reference works for larger pieces Leon creates in his home studio.
In the last decade, Leon has been honoured to be invited to attend many international art events around the globe, eg. ‘Maui Plein Air Invitational’ in Hawaii, ‘Forgotten Coast en Plein Air’ in Florida or ‘Art in the Open’ in Irleand to lecture, teach and exhibit his works amongst other highly skilled, professional artist. These experiences have had a strong impact on the artist’s development and artistic journey. In 2019 Leon initiate a similar annual event in his hometown of Mandurah, known as ‘Plein Air Down Under’ – alive right now.
Leon’s art is available from several international galleries around the world and within Australia as well as from in his own private gallery at 49 Leslie Street, Dudley Park, Mandurah.
