Tara

I’m Tara, an abstract painter inspired by nature, movement, memory, and the beauty that surrounds me every day. So much of my work begins with a feeling. Light moving across the coast, overgrown gardens, changing seasons, wild color combinations in nature, quiet moments outdoors, and the sense of freedom and joy that comes from being deeply connected to the natural world. I studied painting at Parsons School of Design, where I focused on landscape painting. Over time, I became less interested in painting exactly what I saw and more interested in capturing atmosphere, emotion, and energy. That shift led me into abstraction and into the layered, intuitive process I still use today with loose marks, drips, texture, color, and a lot of trust in the process. Horses have also become a huge source of inspiration again. I’m a lifelong rider, and I’m currently beginning a new equine series that feels especially personal. There’s something about horses, their power, sensitivity, movement, and spirit, that feels deeply connected to the way I paint. The work feels freer lately. More alive. More untamed in the best possible way.
